BTV Drones helps find lost dog

BTV DRONES HELPS FIND LOON THE LOST DOG…

A dog in Jericho has gone missing, triggering something called a paw-boost alert on Facebook.

Local residents, friends and family have been on a search for Loon since early yesterday morning.

It’s been over 24 hours since the 1-year-old Bernese Mountain dog went missing near North River road in Jericho. Loon was last seen at Mills Riverside Park on Wednesday at 1:00 pm.

Social media platforms have been flooded with pictures and lost dog flyers to spread the word.

The recently married owners were off on their honeymoon in Belize when they received the bad news.

Dog sitter, Kyle Sheffer, was there when the dog ran off.

“I went and got the mail and had a cup of coffee in my hand, and a box that I was carrying through the front door and as soon as I kicked the door open she just bolted right past me,” Sheffer said.

Sheffer, along with friends and family, have been searching ever since.

“I feel pretty guilty right now. That’s their baby. It’s definitely a family member for them. So now cutting their honeymoon short coming back to help look for it. But we’re doing what we can,” said Sheffer.

Owner of BTV Drones, Jordan Wires, used his high-speed technology to help aid the search as well.

“I’m trying to help them out and use my drones to find a lost dog.”

The owners say Loon is a shy and cautious dog around people, especially men.

Jennifer Siple, an animal control officer in Underhill, tells us the what to do if the dog is spotted.

“The most important thing is that people contact us. Either call animal control, me at the town, or any of the other numbers, and we will make sure that we approach the dog safely and get the dog back,” she said.
